Concrete pressure pipe wall assessment

Pure Technologies is the industry leader in concrete pressure pipe (CPP) management, developing and implementing some of the largest pipeline management programs in North America.

We have assessed over 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers) of CPP with a wide variety of designs and operational requirements, and currently monitor over 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) of prestressed pipe. In addition, Pure has implemented an ongoing multi-million dollar research program dedicated to the assessment and management of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP).

Pure’s solutions for CPP management can accurately identify wire wrap breaks in PCCP, as well as bar wrap breaks and steel cylinder corrosion in bar wrapped pipe (BWP). These forms of deterioration represent the primary failure modes in these types of pipe. Our inspection technologies can also meet a variety of operation requirements while maintaining a high resolution data output.

Through both extensive project experience and research and development, Pure has developed a practical, scientifically defensible technology-based approach for managing CPP that has been adopted by some of the largest utilities across North America. Our technologies, coupled with sound engineering services, have been employed by these utilities to manage their assets for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

From inspection to pipeline monitoring and long-term capital planning, Pure has solutions for CPP owners.

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) – Maryland

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is the 8th largest water and wastewater utility in the United States, serving over 460,000 customer accounts and 1.8 million residents in Montgomery and Prince George’s County, Maryland (suburban Washington D.C.).

After WSSC began experiencing major PCCP failures in the 1970s, it developed a strong commitment to infrastructure management technology in favor of large capital replacements.
